How to Measure Brand Popularity and Customer Satisfaction Objectively

It’s the dream of every marketer, brand champion, and/or social media manager to be able to objectively and accurately (within reason) measure what people feel and think about his/her brand. The best answer to this quest would definitely be user sentiment – specifically the power of social proof. BrandLove App measures this sentiment and more.

BrandLove App – Social Proof 2.0

“Brands never had the chance to be able to compare, for example, if their Facebook fans actually like them more than those who are not fans.”

- Jan Rezab, CEO of SocialBakers

BrandLove App LogoEuropean social media research company SocialBakers.com has long been a practitioner of collecting and measuring actionable social data for brands and companies. Its latest product, the BrandLove app, makes rating for one’s favorite brand on social media as easy as 1 to 10. The system is literally a voting system on a scale of one to ten.

Users vote on any of the 19,000+ brands currently in the SocialBakers ecosystem and subsequently show their ‘brand love’; on a scale of 1 – 10 on how likely they are to recommend a brand to their friends. One hundred and thirty three countries and over 100,000 ratings later, the BrandLove app has enough data to show some very good results.

  • Currently, ‘the most loved brands’ are Google Chrome, Disney Pixar, and Skype.
  • 9,000 people have taken part in the rating spree.
  • In exchange for promoting the app on their walls, brands will be given a data snapshot.

SocialBakers is already an authority when it comes to Facebook ranking, data-wise and this new product capitalizes on the company’s resources and immense data-gathering capabilities and social clout.

Currently, the app is available as a Facebook application, and soon to be available for the iOS. It’s available via this link: SocialBakers’ BrandLove App

Interesting app you shared with us bro. I might give it a try once I have my schedule fixed. I hope I don't get a lot of haters though. :D

@engrmarkmorfe I think this only applies if you or a brand you own is listed in SocialBakers' brand database. I'll go on a limb and say you're probably not there under "brands" :P

This looks like an interesting brand. I remember that you mentioned before that as blog admins, our websites can be considered brand as well or that we, ourselves, are living brands. You told miimivirus to check it out, so I guess there is one way to really learn about this app and that is to try it.

@iaadamlim Hi there, thanks for the comment. Yes - we (bloggers and our blogs) should be branding ourselves but I highly doubt that many (if any) blogs are included in the BrandLove App database. Maybe because we aren't brands per se? :)

does the application only applicable for online resources? or branding like in clothes, shoes and etc, it would also be useful for consumers

@jaztien_15 Yup, peer recommendations are strong social proof signals :) I particularly like how BrandLove shows the data via an infographic.

Branding I think is topmost important to companies because its the one that will make them popular.  Most often consumers knew the brand but not the company. Yeah! most of them really spent money on advertising to popularize their brands.

jsncruz

@giay Branding does make brands 'more popular' but at the end of the day, it's whether or not they can deliver their promised products and services that will make or break the deal.

Thanks for dropping by!

Branding  is important for a business that is why companies spends a lot of money just for their product to be known or how  popular they products to the consumer. The more popular the brand ,the more they are inspire to give us the best they can to satisfy the costumers.

Brands and companies would really like to know how they fare with the audience sentiment and this is quite understandable.  What I still fail to grasp at this particular moment is how this app can be relevant to relatively unknown brands.

jsncruz moderator

@Teresa Martinez You've hit the problem spot on - by being recommended by individuals, even the smaller players in the big league of digital branding can be heard. This will make targeted but hard-working content more important, something smaller (more nimble) brands can do better than large and bureaucratic companies.

I've tried it just now,  is there an option how to add a different brand?

ArchiedeLara

I have tried creating my own brand through blogs, but so far I'm not that successful making it popular. This will be a helpful app.

jsncruz
jsncruz moderator

@ArchiedeLara This will only be helpful if you want to know the sentiments and feelings towards your brand. Otherwise, it's not going to be much use! Haha.

Thanks Kuya Jason, I always learn something new from you. You're a pro in this field. I might try BrandLove App someday.

jsncruz

@KimFrancisCorros You don't need to try it if you're not really into sentiments :) This is, however, very useful for marketers and enthusiasts.

Thanks for the compliment, Kim. I enjoy your blog posts too!

Honestly Sir Jason I am new to this Brand popularity thing. Thanks at lagi akong may natutunan sa mga posts mo. Good thing din if we let people gauge a brand's popularity but I have this feeling na the results may not be a true reflection. Why do I say that, how sure are these Social media research gurus na no manipulation of the result can ever happen. Are there measures laid out to preserved the sanctity or truthfulness ng result?

jsncruz
jsncruz moderator

@DonaldPagulong Hi sir, thanks for the comment!

I'm pretty sure the results are hard to manipulate since the calculations for each one is objective and mathematically cold-blooded :P No statistic on social media is ever TRULY accurate because of its ever-changing nature, but this one comes pretty close in my opinion.

I wonder why Facebook and Twitter is not on the top 3. =)

I think this app will help a lot for the big brands, (e.g Disney, Nike), since it's no secret they're already have huge followings.

jsncruz
jsncruz moderator

@Jerome_Ibuyan Perhaps because they're not "brands" per se? :)

You do have a point that big brands have an advantage. At the end of the day, it's a numbers game and 20 positive sentiments is going to count more than 10.

wow that's cool to know it makes sense and real life opinions that everyone just gotta love skype is if its because we use it in our everyday life for communication and keep in touch with loved ones x0x0

@tauyanm Well, personally, I don't love Skype; I just uninstalled it yesterday as I think using it is redundant (I've been on G+ Hangouts for a while now).

I think this would be a better way of measuring brand popularity by letting people put them in a scale and brand who can consistently rate highly would be a good brand.

The easy access to social media has made it possible for marketers to promote their brands. Best if this app would be available in other platforms as well like a web based voting. Or in other devices like android.

@memoentry Hey there, thanks for that suggestion! I'm sure the guys at @socialbakers are working on BrandLove's availability on other platforms :)
